Indie Music Summit June 13 in NYC

We are excited to be gearing up for the first-ever AIMP Indie Music Publishing Summit in New York City on June 13! The event will gather top indie music publishing executives, including the leaders of all three chapters of the AIMP, to discuss issues of key importance to the industry. There will be a panel with representatives from NMPA, A2iM, MPA, ICMP, and CMPA; a Pandora case study presentation; a copyright infringement panel, and more – all culminating in a keynote interview with GRAMMY-winning producer, songwriter, musician and label owner Benny Blanco. More info here; if you want press credentials to attend and cover the event, please let Bill Greenwood know by June 1 by responding to this email or sending a note to

2nd Music Technology Fair Held May 24

The AIMP NY chapter just held its second annual Music Technology Fair in New York on May 24, providing attendees an opportunity to meet with tech companies like Disco, Dubset Media, Music Reports, Songtrust, Synchtank, Royalty Solutions, Songspace, Rumblefish, Jaxsta, and more.

AIMP Nashville Awards Held May 8

Earlier in May, the Nashville chapter hosted its second annual AIMP Nashville Awards at the legendary Ryman Auditorium. The show (presented by the Academy of Country Music) honored Nashville’s independent songwriters, publishers, and artists with a line-up of amazing performances and special awards. Maren Morris won the 2017 AIMP Artist-Writer of the Year award while her song “Rich” took home the 2017 AIMP Publisher’s Pick, and Keith Urban’s “Blue Ain’t Your Color” was awarded Song of the Year. Foot-stomping performances by Old Dominion, Walker Hayes, Caitlyn Smith, Natalie Hemby, Carly Pearce, Ryan Beaver, and Brandy Clark punctuated the all-around fantastic event.

AIMP in the News

AIMP LA Board Member and music industry lawyer Erin M. Jacobson asked “Will Computers Soon Control the Music Industry?” in a piece for Forbes. While she argues for the necessity of a central database of high-quality metadata, she insists that it would be unwise to forget “the human element.” Read more here.

Music Row caught a snap of AIMP Nashville Executive Director John Ozier of ole with the moderators and panelists of “Exploring the Publishing Legal Landscape,” a panel co-hosted by the AIMP and Regions Bank and held at ASCAP’s offices in Nashville. See the photo and learn more about the panel here.

AIMP NY Managing Director Alisa Coleman, who will moderate the “Publishers and Labels Working in Concert” panel on June 6 during A2IM Independent Music Week in New York City. AIMP NY Boardmember Phil Cialdella will be a panelist. Learn more about the panel here.
