U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer addressed a sold-old crowd of New York City-based tech entrepreneurs, developers, investors, and more at the NY Tech Meetup on Wednesday, December 4, at NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Schumer discussed ways to draw more technology talent to the city, including comprehensive immigration reform that would provide green cards to any student who obtains an advanced degree at a U.S. college and give businesses triple the number of temporary visas for highly skilled foreign workers. He also challenged attendees to improve New York City’s tech infrastructure by working to create a city-wide free public Wi-Fi network.
